Stopped in to grab a quick lunch... Or so we thought. Both bar and restaurant were pretty empty, ordered a small pizza (literally 4 slices). 30 minutes goes by without a word from either of the bartenders. We see pies leaving the kitchen and people around us being served. Finally after 45 minutes the bartender approaches us and says our pizza was 'burned' but they're going to quickly fire up another one which will be ready in 8 minutes. 15 minutes after that we ask for it to go as we're sick of sitting there and finally after an hour we leave with our small pie. At no point did anyone apologize. Complete joke and very poor customer service. Not worth it. You can find better pizza and WAY better service somewhere else!

After eating seafood almost every day in HHI, I was craving some mellow mushroom pizza. I love the crust, so delicious and cheesy. This time we got the mellowteranean pizza, i will definitely get it again. Yum! Great selection of beers. Lots of TVs around if you want to catch a game while you eat. I'm still waiting for Mellow Mushroom to start opening restaurants in the Northeast.

This is an update review. I don't mind this place. They give good pizza at a nice cost and my kids get a kick out of it so we go every time we're in Hilton Head. The pizza seemed just as nice as last year and the staff seemed much friendlier. However, they're changing their theme for the worse. It use to be stoner themed pizza place. As if some hippies got together and put up a pizza joint. Now the most prominent design aspect is TVs. Wall-to-wall TVs. TVs. Everywhere. TVs showing sports. TVs in your line of sight no matter where you direct your sight. I hate that. Why do we need this? Why does America need a TV in a room to eat with its friends and families? Why? And another thing: they use to have this stoned out looked mushroom mascot to reminded me of South Park's Towlie. He doesn't seem to be around so much anymore. Where'd he go?

The pizza was sooooooo good that we were half way through it before we realized they got our order wrong! We orderd a 14" pie, half chicken and broccoli, half chicken and pineapple. After tearing through the broccoli portion and starting on the pineapple portion we realized, THERE WAS NO CHICKEN ON OUR PIZZA!!! Don't get me wrong the pizza was still very delicious and our waiter offered to have them remake it, but we declined. It does take a while to get your pizza order, but that's because it's made fresh to order! Highly recommended, just pay attention to your order once it comes out!

Easily the best pizza in the area. We ate at the Bluffton location and the ordered take out from the location on the island - both were excellent. One hot tip - order early or be prepared to wait, especially on move in Saturday! The wait can approach 1-1/2 hours+ for take out. Great food - priced right, kid friendly dining room. I'll be back!

Mellow mushroom gets 5 stars from me. The holy shiitake pie is out of this world great for mushroom lovers. The all meat pie is great too. Atmosphere is good. Now the bad: plan on it taking forever. Had an awesome laid back waiter. The kitchen made two wrong pizzas for our large group. And made another the wrong size. All was fixed and bill adjusted. We ended up with four pizza boxes full to take home. So it was like free pizza. So the mistakes were made right, the pizza delicious, and we had a great time even though it took longer than expected.

One of the greatest pizzas I've ever had, red skin potato pie. Definitely not the healthiest but hey, who's counting when you choose pizza! Great beer selection, great service, all in all a place I will be returning to on the next trip to hilton head.

I can't praise this place enough!! After having the worst experience at Alligator Grille (see my review) across the parking lot we decided to go to MM for dinner! We had fabulous food, our server was perfect and our evening turned from sour to sweet. We have been to a few Mellow Mushrooms and this by far is the best one! Next time we are in HI we will be going there again!!

SOMEONE MUST HAVE BEEN SMOKING MELLOW MUSHROOMS WHILE MAKING MY PIZZA CAUSE IT WAS ONLY SO SO... We headed here to get something different and that really didn't happen. We had the Caesar and it was only OK. I think this was a wanna be cutting edge turned granny pizza! I've had simple white style pizza topped with luscious micro greens and a vinaigrette. This hot mess was a HEAVY white pizza with a Caesar salad thrown on top AND heavy Caesar dressing. Best description is too heavy!!! Would not visit again.

Whoaaaaa dude, look around at all the stuff on the walls, I'm having a bad trip mannnnnn Good thing this pizza is really good. And the staff is really friendly. Whoa, the garlic breadsticks are out of this world mannnn. Go here, and you'll enjoy it. Or at least have something fun to talk about. Genius design folks....pizza is pretty decent

Best Happy Hour in HH. The wings are better than Wild Wings and the pizza slices are insane and delicious. I'm from NYC so I think I know good pizza and let me tell you this pizza is good. The staff is friendly and attentive and the place is just a good dive. They have an outdoors area with a fire place, that's a +. I would definitely frequent this place if I lived on HH.

I really don't like writing a bad review, but I have to speak up in this case. We called ahead to order a pizza on Saturday night. First off, the phone was not answered by a person, but answered by a recording telling us to call back in a while. After 7 or so attempts ( yes, we were really looking forward to this pizza, a tradition for our family, as the first meal on the island to kick off our weeks vacation), they answered the phone, put us on hold....we waited patiently. Finally a gal was available to take out order....then the real wait began. She said it would be 1.5 hrs. While that seemed like a lot, we were willing to make the wait, for some of the best pizza known to man. We arrived after 1.5 hrs to collect our pies only to be met with further delays. Still in good spirits for day 1 of our vacation, we decided to get a beer and wait some more (that can't be all that bad). Although we knew we would suffer the wrath of the family members we left behind, for making them wait... The wait for the beer was long, but I was saved by a patron sitting at the bar who was actually able to get the attention of the bar tender who never once cracked a smile. The beer was cold and delicious so, again, we tolerated the wait. After an additional 30 mins, and one request to please check on our pir to see where it was in line, we urged some one once agin to check on our progress. Our name was written down and passes back to the za-makers.... Only to be glanced at and thrown away. From this, the decision was made to cut our losses.... Right across the street was a Harris Teeter where frozen Tombstone pizzas were calling our name. We asked the mellow mushroom workers to check once again or we would like our money back (oh, yeah... Did I mention that we paid for it upon arrival? In good faith..). The manager came back and said our order was lost and it would only be 10 mins for them to make them... Oh boy... That was it. Now it's just a matter of simple customer service 101, and principle. We asked for our money back. Angry and frustrated we picked up the frozen goods in less that 5 mins but had to hear the complaints from the very hungry family at home. Disappointed? Absolutely..... Did the Tombstone do the trick? Absolutely. Mellow Mushroom... Please set expectations for your patrons. After 2.5 hours of patience, ours had come to an end. As would any normal, hungry vacationer. Better luck next time....

We paid $25++ for a large meat-lovers (take-out). It was good, but way over-priced.

Is it just me, or does the mushroom on the box remind you of the character Towelie from "South park?" There's a strange, trippy resemblance. We ordered pizza from here the other night and went to pick it up at the restaurant. The place was cute and everything, but it was kind of gimmicky. We ordered two medium pizzas, a salad, and breadsticks, and our total was over $60. That seems really expensive to me. As for the most important part, the flavor, everything was alright. The person who ordered the salad didn't share, so I'm not sure how that was. We ordered the house special and the Kosmic Karma pizzas and though I loved the crust, the rest was just again, okay. It was kind of nice that they put whole pieces of bacon on the house special (hey, I'm expecting, so bring on the bacon), but the Kosmic Karma won over more people in our house. The garlic bread was very garlic-y, so beware (I like a lot of garlic though).

Yummy, but full and heavy, pizza.

  • Matthew L.

Great beer selection, both taps and bottles. The pizza combinations all sound delicious. We had the Karma one. It was very good, but the oil in the pesto sauce made it more greasy that I'd have liked. The meal was kinda pricy, for a pizza restaurant, but I'd go back.

Stopped here for dinner on our last night in town and had so much food we brought it back to Tennessee with us. We ordered the pretzels ( which are full sized soft pretzels by the way... ) they were great! My wife ordered the house calzone. It was huge!!! She said it was pretty tasty too. I had a small cheese and mushroom pizza. It was also good... My only two issues were a long wait time for our food and the pizza sauce could have used some salt and a bit of spice... The dough however was great! We will be back for sure!

We were looking for Pizza and were referred to Mellow Mushroom. We were very happy with the pizza... All but one child enjoyed the crust. Good selection of beer. Great atmosphere for kids.

This place is a breath of fresh air in the middle of old fart central (not the old farts don't like/shouldn't eat pizza). I visited in early March when I was doing a clinical rotation for school- not exactly the peak of tourist season. There wasn't much going on around the island it seemed, but this place was tucked away and turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I think every person within drinking age under the age of 30 was stuffed in this pizza place/bar. The atmosphere was so lively and welcoming- like everyone knew each other, and was ready to hang out. Drinks were reasonable. Pizza here is always good. I'd hit this place up if you're looking for entertainment at an oddball time of year that doesn't have much going on.

We liked this place so much that we ate here 2 times in our 3 night stay in Hilton Head. They have some creative pizza concoctions. The beer list was great, too. The only downside is that it's located in a strip mall, but they decorated it in a beach hippie fashion that it's still a fun place to eat.

  • Scott C.

This place is just cool when it comes to atmosphere. We ate outdoors and they had a tree trunk for a bar top and it was laquered. It had flat screen tv's outside and in and an indoor style fireplace outdoors. The food is great. I had a greek salad, and a pizza with 1/2 steak and shrooms (the Philosopher's Pizza) and the other 1/2 was called Holy Shiitake with shiitake shrooms and olives. Very tasty indeed. If you are in Hilton Head it is worth a try.

This is a fun place to eat. My family loves the pizza although I'd rather have Jake's or Guisseppe's on the island. Just not a huge fan of the parmesean topping that they put on the crust. I am a big fan of their sandwiches (get a whole and save some for tomorrow) and salads. The great surprise are the pretzels. I always go with a 3-pack of salted and a 3-pack of cinnamon & honey. It's their pizza dough that somehow tastes awesome. Get it and you won't be disappointed.

  • Dave C.

Great place for the family with dining indoors and out. Flat screens in full view from every angle of whatever games are on. The family and I went there for the GLUTEN FREE pizza and were not disappointed. They make their own GF pizza dough and it was very good. Excellent selection of toppings. Our server was very pleasant and prompt. We would definitely go back.

Fantastic atmosphere and delicious pizza and pretzels. Although the food takes a while to be prepared, baked, and delivered to your table, it is well worth the wait.

  • Gary P.

We had lunch here and the pizza by the slice was the way to go. It was huge, tasted great and came out quick as each slice is made to order with any toppings you want.

  • Erin T.

Avoid this place if you don't like crowds or waiting. The menu is extensive. I'm a fan of both the build-your-own salads and the pizzas. Also there is an extensive selection of draft beers (something like 25 taps?) and even more in the bottles. But every time we have visited this location, we have had to wait at least 30 minutes, sometimes over an hour. And I'm not talking about a large party--4 people. Also lots of TVs everywhere, but the server was able to put our hometown game on (and it wasn't on network in SC), which made my family happy.

Great pizza (love the hail ceasar - salad pizza), great atmosphere for kids and great staff. Just a fun casual place to get good food!

    (4)
  • Christina B.

Fun place for family and pizza. The crust is brushed with oil and sprinkled with grated cheese and has a sweetness to it. It's not a super thin crust nor a typical city pizzeria variety, but what they lack in tradition, they make up for with creativity. For example, I have had the curry chicken with cucumber pizza here and was pleased with the combination. Best bet: try the meatball/cheese skewers. Great tasting.

    Great Pizza and Calzones!!

  • Lexy S.

Good food and beer selection. Fun vibe. But what is up with that rude bartender? You know the one? Everytime I talk to someone about mellow mushroom, the same girl comes up? Don't know how she still has a job? Because the way she treats customers and even locals is downright rude and condescending.

  • Dee F.

I'll put this in the bizzarre category in dining of Charleston. Good low key, with a hippie feel, pizza joint. Pizza was good. They have bands and cheap beer. Felt like this place should be in Berkeley, CA or Austin, TX.

We like MM a lot. We've made this part of our vacation for a few years now. Always good pizza. Service is ok - not bad, just not special. We'll keep coming back.

I went here with my entire family of 14! We were seated right away on a busy night. It took quite a while to get our order, but everything was really good. The one downfall is the restaurant is very noisy. The prices are not too expensive for HHI. The salads were really good, as was the portabella mushroom appetizer. This is a really good place for families and groups who like a wide verity of foods.

Have to write a follow up to my review a few days ago. Went back this evening and had a completely untrained, incompetent waiter. What a difference having a good waiter makes! People who sat down to eat 20 minutes after us got their food well before we did. Our waiter seemed completely in over his head; called the manager over and that even took 15 minutes. All I know is tonights experience was completely aggravating and I am sick to my stomach. Will not return!!!!

First trip - excellent pizza, slow but acceptable service. We had a large group, so I thought it was ok. Second trip, again with large group, 2 out of 6 pizzas burned on the bottom (2 others were wrong order), service was horrible and curt. There are 4 family's that will not be back.

Best pizza I ever had in my life and I'm a new yorker. I seriously go into withdraw after I leave hhi bc it's that good. Stone ipa's for 3.50 during happy hour makes for an excellent pregame. Plus you can shoot hoops at the bar. Magical mystery pie is the best they got.

Ordered 4 large pizzas for pickup from the Mellow Mushroom to feed 8 adults and 3 kids. All 4 were wonderful. We got the Mighty Meaty, the Mega Veggie, the Kosmic Karma and a Cheese Pizza with Pepperoni and Sausage. The toppings were plentiful and the crust was tasty. Highly recommended.

Greek salad was good. My huaband and i shared a regular size and that was plenty.... we ordered a mad italian and a ricotta meatball.. the Ricotta meatball pizza was hands down the beat pizza I've ever had my entire life. Honestly we didn't even get to the mad Italian yet. Great service. Very happy.

  • Bernadene F.

To start the waitress spilled her tray of water on the floor, table and us so we had to move to another table. That can happen but none of us remember her saying she was sorry. THE pizza was good but not extraordinary. I ordered the "philosopher' pizza which I didn't find any steak on until the third piece. The other pizza came without the sausage. The waitress did offer to remake the pizza though so that was a plus to have pizza to take home. Poor service and average pizza.

    (2)
  • Enio R.

Like most of the reviews, the food is good-- the service is terrible, mostly due to management. There is a lack of communication. Our pizza was missing steak, so the assistant manager comes and offers us a new pizza. Manager barges in two minutes after, says our pizza has steak (it didn't) and walks away. We receive a side of steak. The pizza was good and I don't complain about much but when your assistant manager offers something and you retract it WITHOUT NOTICE or apology, there is a problem.

  • John M.

Terrible. Do not go there. We had Hoagies/Subs and they were tasteless with very little content...mostly bread. If you want subs or pizza, we have learned that Stu's is the place to go. John.

I have no problem with the food at Mellow Mushroom. It is a normal pizza and salad place. Since it is a chain we usually support Guiseppe's in Sea Pines. Mellow Mushroom serves a purpose for families with children being ultra kid friendly. Mellow Mushroom has bar seating, outdoor, and indoor seating. Each time I have been to MM the hostess station has been poorly run. Maybe extra training or a new seating system is needed, what they have been doing does not work. In fact they turn people away because it is so unorganized.

  • Teressa L.

Came here twice while on vacation. We love the pizza here. They have a great beer selection and happy hour deals. Server was great, very friendly but also stayed on top of the drinks. He was honest about time to get food(pretzel bites can be 15 min) and got our orders right. Atmosphere is fun. Can be loud. Lots of tv's to look at. They have trivia late one night as well. The food is good. Bruschetta was just ok. Pretzel bites were really tasty. And the PIZZA....always good. The Kosmic Karma is my favorite though and worth the $20+ to get it!!!

Service was fine food was what is expected from Mellow Mushroom. Wish they had more local beer selections but I feel much better about this choice then I did when reading the reviews.

I've eaten at Mellow Mushroom plenty of times, at various locations, and this is the best pizza joint in the south that I've eaten at. Came here on a Tuesday night and it wasn't busy. We were seated right away and the service was good. If you know it may be busy, I recommend ordering take away. Their pizza dough is made fresh and so are their ingredients. It is a little pricier than your average take out pizza like Dominos, but you pay for the excellent quality. What's great about Mellow Mushroom is that they are vegetarian and vegan friendly. That means a lot to me, especially down here in the south where it's harder to find vegetarian friendly restaurants and options. Recommendation Although their pizzas are awesome, definitely try their hoagies! I tried them for the first time at this Mellow Mushroom and it was nomlicious! Had a half portabello n cheese hoagie and half tofu hoagie. The flavor of both was great! They didn't skimp on the ingredients- definitely piled high with veggies and they were all fresh. A little too much mayo, so I'll ask them to cut back next time. A few of my other family members ordered a jerk chicken hoagie, cheese steak hoagie, and reuben hoagie. Everyone loved the flavor and there was enough to share. Final answer Great quality food worthy coming back for!

I have never experienced such horrible customer service ... I placed an order via phone last evening and was told by the restaurant that my order would take 2 hrs to complete. I was also told I would have to repeatedly call and 'check in' on my order myself during that 2hr wait, which I did multiple times. Following my two hour wait when I went to pick up my pizza it still was not ready and the restaurant was pretty much empty. I was told my order had low priority because I phoned in my order. I then had to wait for my order to be made and then still got charged ... Needless to say I don't need to revisit. Pizza wasn't usual mellow mushroom quality either blah. I recommend trying something different for sure! I'd give this place a negative star if I could!

    (1)
  • Stephanie R.

Eh. Hostess could be better. Slamming our menus on the table. Was it because we walked in at 9:30pm???? That's no way to make a good impression. 5 min in our server arrives. I say we want a pitcher. 6 min later, no server. Ok. I'll give him that it's 9:30 at night. He's ok. We asked for the braves game... ...and we finally got it. Along with out finally got beer cheese to go with our pretzels. Oh well. However, we wanted good food and we got it. Mellow Mushroom as a chain is at least consistent.

    (3)
  • David S.

Service is atrocious! Not busy at 5 pm, but took host 5 minutes to greet us and ask us to wait a bit longer because of staff shift change and high volume traffic. We were the traffic. Seated then waited a bit longer for server. After waiting another 20 minutes on an appetizer we walked out. Definitely nothing like Mellow Mushroom experienced that we're accustomed to elsewhere.

    (1)
  • Kevin W.

Yum. Stonery location, but quality. Clean and good service. Cool mushrooms all over this place. Pizza is unique, greasy and good. For instance, ours was red potatoes, cheese, sour cream, bacon, onion. Perfect if your in that hunger zone. Great cheap date / or casual pizza w the family or friends.

    (4)
  • Molly M.

I've been to several Mellow Mushrooms (all great), and this location certainly has the worst service and management. We went on a Saturday at 9pm and were told there was a 30 minute wait. The restaurant was over half empty, and they didn't have enough servers to seat people. The hostesses were slightly rude and were behind the counter eating frozen yogurt. If they didn't have anything to do, maybe they could wait tables? We called back a few nights later to order pizza for take out and were told it would be 2 hours. I know it's a busy time of year, but it should never be a two hour wait for pick up. Love their pizzas, but this location suffers from poor management.

    (2)
  • Mark W.

Good pizza, but terrible service. Don't even bother attempting to order takeout after 6 pm in the summer. You will never get through. This place needs a much better way to handle takeout orders.

  • Colleen F.

The Mellow Mushroom is one of our favorite stops in HHI. It has a funky, college feel and is family friendly. They have great pizza with a buttery Parmesan cheese crust. The menu is vegetarian friendly. They have a nice beer list too.

    (5)
  • Joe S.

The pizza is great here. My favorite on the island. The downfall is the rude staff. They make it seem like an inconvenience that you are there. I guess this comes from poor training on the part of the management. I had a much better experience at Lowe's where the staff was courteous and willing to accommodate you in any way.

    (3)
  • David W.

Expensive pizza, 30 minute wait but restaurant is slow at 8:30 on Sunday night and the wi-fi doesn't work..

My husband's family of 10 met up in Hilton Head several weeks ago and dined at Mellow Mushroom one evening for dinner. From the outdoor patio space (perfect for little kiddos!) to the delicious pizza and beer, I think that we all had a great experience. As I have some food allergies, I ordered the Smart Flour Gluten Free crust with my Gourmet White pizza. Outside of being flatter and crispier than the typical Mellow Mushroom crust, it was almost identical in flavor. Eating this pizza didn't feel like punishment!

    (4)
  • Missy M.

Horrible service. Wait time quoted 20 minutes. Waited 30 then we had to sit outside to avoid additional wait. Sat for an hour waiting for pizza outside. Pizza was expensive for such horrible service. Waitress was awful. Ate at Mellow mushroom in myrtle beach and loved it. This one is run terribly. And pizza wasn't as good. There was garbage around our table too.

Aside from select pizzas in NYC or Chicago, I always prefer Mellow Mushroom. We enjoyed this location recently and it certainly did not disappoint. From the baked wings, pretzels, hummus, and pizza... it was all fantastic! I prefer to keep the pizza basic with 1-3 toppings vs the specialty pies. That is just my opinion though! Enjoy.

  • Amanda W.

I love Mellow Mushroom at this location is better than the one in Augusta, GA. =)

  • Steve D.

Evidently this popular pizza joint recently shed its "gourmet stoner" vibe for a more conventional "upstream casual" atmosphere, and who can blame them? (How many hippies have you seen hanging around Sea Pines recently?) With or without the post-bong-munchie-syndrome subtext, they serve up some of the best pizza I've had. We had the Holy Shitake specialty pie with the excellent pizza-dough pretzels and a nice Caesar salad, and everything rocked. Only drawbacks: This place is definitely not for the pothead on a budget, as it's pretty pricey as pizza goes. Also, not a good choice for a quick meal as crowds can be sizable and service a tad slow.

  • Sanford L.

Best pizza on the island and the service was 5 star plus! Can't go wrong here!!!! I am Particular orderer and they got my pizza perfect lite baked no parm!!!! Brought the pizza before they cut it to my table and had me check it for being baked enough! It was PERFECT!

  • Thomas T.

We started with the 3 meatball appetizer and the pizza dough bites. Meatballs were fantastic, served shish kabob style with very good mozzarella between the halved meatballs. Pizza dough bites gave us a hint of what was to come. Excellent pizza! The only reason I give it 4 stars is because the hostess station was chaos. Might of been an off night of course. Wait time was about 40 minutes. Solid choice for HiH pizza.

  • Ashley M.

At least the food tasted good, but still, the service was awful. We had a young guy serving us who said it was his first day back at work since leaving to go to college...and it showed. He didn't know the menu at all and he was very awkward. My dish was not what he explained, the water tasted awful, and my mom's gluten free personal pizza somehow cost $22...ridiculous. When he brought the check he was almost fishing for a large tip. The fact that the food tasted good isn't enough to ever make us go back again.

Awesome as always. Best atmosphere of all of the MM that I have been to. The turbo nugget beer cheese sauce was incredible. We stayed with the basic house special pizza. Next time will try the red potatoe pizza. Dan was our server. Super friendly, asset to the company!

I LOVE THIS PIZZA. I love the parmesan they put on the crust. Delicious. I get it every time I go to Hilton Head. If you're in town and want really good pizza, it's a must try! Plan to wait if you go on the weekends or during busy hours. Definitely worth the wait. And get the soft pretzels with cinnamon and honey--DELISH. Yummm.

Another great Mellow Mushroom experience!! If you love pizza, go here Here's the deal... Unbelievable pizza, a beer list that will make you dizzy... And the beers are of the best microbrews in the country. Great family atmosphere to boot! We enjoyed our HHI Mellow Mushroom experience

Love the new space! Went here for "kids" night with all my little siblings and we had so much fun! It just so happened to be during Wednesday trivia night, which was a blast! Fun for everyone-- ages between 23 and 10. We had the Funky Q Chicken pizza, which was delicious. The kids created their own personal sized pizzas-half one thing, half another. Lots of fun! Also: GREAT beer selection for the area.

We had a medium pizza, 1/2 Maui Wowie and 1/2 Thai Dye. It was delicious! Unique flavours and toppings earned this place 5 stars. The server was very friendly and the food came out only a few minutes after our order. A must visit the next time I'm in Hilton Head :)

I only go here for Happy Hour and get the $1.50 draft of 16 oz beer and very reasonable appetizers. They have the very best pizza and at happy hour you get 2 large pieces of pepperoni for only $3.00.

Some days you just have to say "I wonder what they were smoking?" Overall, I was impressed with the food. I would pick the Bruschetta over the pesto bread next time as more flavorful, but the pizza was very good, nice thick natural crust and plenty of toppings. I did find it funny (and it has become a joke) that despite listing "hot tea" on the menue, we were told by our waitress that there was no hot tea, but that they could take some iced tea and warm it up in the microwave. Once we explained how to make hot tea, we did get a cup, but that was funny. I also think that waitstaff need a bit more training ot testing before being put out on their own, as our waitress had to "go ask" several times when queried about the menu. I would recommend to friends

This is by far the worst pizza on Hilton Head. I ordered a take out pizza, asked for it not to be cut and it was cut. The bottom of the pizza was burned. The worst thing is that there was a 4 inch wide rim of this tasteless crust. Come to think of it, the pizza itself had little taste. They use a watered down anemic sauce which lacked flavor. I don't get it, their prices are too high, they put very little ingredients, who in their right mind would eat at this place!

Not a bad spot for a casual dinner on Hiltonhead. At home in St. Louis or any other city I'd give this 2 stars, but considering the location, I've bumped it up to 4 stars. (Hiltonhead just doesn't seem to be a location for great food!) Appetizers, pizza and calzones were all good... not amazing, not bad. My wife called it typical chain restaurant food. Top PROs - the huge beer menu and variety of vegetarian & vegan items (vegan cheese, tempeh tofu, etc.). Top CON - the excessive parmesan cheese they seem to put on everything. I'd suggest ordering pizza without it.

The pizza was really good and tons of tv to watch that games on. Try the cinnamon pretzels too!

We had never been to a Mellow Mushroom, but had heard how good they are, so we were excited to find this one on Hilton Head Island. We didn't find the hippie/stoner chic vibe we were expecting. What we found, instead, was a warm casual, family-friendly atmosphere that served good, fresh-tasting food. And with a decent beer selection to boot! In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we visited twice during our weeklong visit to HHI.

Disappointed with the secret policy of in house guests food is made first, then call ins (when busy then don't answer phone) then take out. I waited the quoted 45 minutes drinking at the bar, then they said hopefully another 20 minutes. Manager finally made our food personally because I figured out what was up. To his credit he paid for half. Food is god tho.

Good selection of gourmet pizza. We have only ever ordered take out but service has always been exceptional. The inside has a very good sized bar with a fair amount of beers on tap. My favorite pizza is the Bayou Blue pizza, spicy blue cheese sauce with shrimp & andouille sausage. Definitely a good pizza place for something different!
